| Alexis, Kathleen, Lauren, & Robin Perez with President David A. Lundgreen |
Lauren was set apart as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 by our Stake President, President David A. Lundgreen, at the Oregon City Stake Center. Lauren became a missionary nine days before entering the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah. This happened, because we were leaving for Utah that Friday, October 1, 2010 to take Lauren to the MTC. That meant that she had to live by ALL the mission rules starting that moment. That included having a female companion with her at all times. Lauren was a little nervous when the Stake President recommend that her mom be her companion. Lauren worried that I might feel the need, as her companion, to try to keep her in line about living mission rules. I reminded her that she had already been living most of the mission rules by choice, to prepare herself for being a missionary. I expressed my confidence in her ability to continue to self manage herself in living the mission rules. Once I said this, she had no more issues with MOM being her companion.
