I Love Being Able To Bare My Testimony Everyday

The comments and or translation that is bold blue and italics is from Lauren's mom.

Sunny and warm.... is almost an understatement. Scorching blistering heat (It was 99 degrees the day she wrote this email)....yeah that about sums it up. We have been blessed with cool weather for the last two days which has been such a relief! I hear it'll get even hotter.... which will be lovely :)

Dad, I have loved hearing your feelings about getting sealed to your family in the temple. It is such a huge blessing that we have that power again on the earth. How amazing that promises we make with God can bring us such tremendous blessings in our lives if kept.

Weeds in the back yard.... now those I do not miss. Good for you guys for getting at them! Oh those grubs! Yeah, I’d say deep fry them. I wonder if you can can deep fried things. M-m-m-m-m yes nothing says manhood like grub slime between your teeth....m-m-m-m manly!

Okay, when you first told me about the water falling out of the ceiling story (our upstairs bathroom sprung a down pour) I laughed, but.... that's lame. Stuff like that just happens I guess. You should see some of the houses/trailers here. Many people use duct tape pretty much for the “fix all tool,” so yeah, see how mom feels about duct taping the pipes, ha!
GREAT NEWS OF THE WEEK!!!! WE HAD AN INVESTIGATOR AT CHURCH!!!! Seriously such a blessing when that happens. P. Jr. is 9 and has had a baptismal date pretty much since I got here, but we've kept having to move it because he and his family haven't been coming to church. They were at sacrament on Sunday though which is PROGRESS. YAY!

I don't think I told y’all, but I gave a talk Sunday. Elder Cuello, Elder Stewart, and I all talked on different principles of the gospel. Man, nothing makes you feel like you don't know Spanish like giving a talk in a Spanish ward. The Elders are basically fluent which rocks for them, but makes me look bad, but Hermana Obrien and I sang so that probably half way helped me out.

All joking aside I have felt incredibly blessed as I’ve been learning Spanish. I don't say everything the right way, but I get the general idea across and seem to be understood most of the time. Hermana Obrien and I have started studying Spanish together. I've figured out that I’m a very audio learner, and she is more visual. So I’ve started reading things in Spanish and she'll listen to it and we'll both try to translate it.

PLEASE make it to Karla Mantei's baptism this Saturday!!!! I just got a letter from one of the Canby Elders saying that she's getting baptized this Saturday!! Talk to the Elders about it. She's a way good friend of mine from school.  Please tell her that I wished I was able to be there and how happy I am for her. I'm writing her a letter, but I think the added support would be awesome!

I love being a missionary. I love being able to bare my testimony on a daily basis and help encourage positive changes that bring about eternal blessings. We visited someone several weeks back and talked to her about forgiveness and how she needed to forgive her mother in law. We asked her how it went and she says, "Oh Perez I wanted to beat you up! Let me tell you what happened," she's kind of a chola (translation: female latin gangster), but the biggest sweetheart. She said the chapter she was reading that day from one of her church books was on forgiveness. Her husband talked to her about how she needed to forgive his mom. Everything for the next few days seemed to remind her that she needed to forgive her mother-in- law. It was awesome! She has come a long way and seems to understand the principle much better. It is wonderful to see people changing their lives for the better. The threats to get beat up are pretty cool too.

I LOVE THIS GOSPEL!!! Please share the joy that it brings into your life with those around you. You will regret not having opened your mouth if you don't.

Grandma Perez~
I got your letter grandma. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I love you so much and I will get back to you ASAP.

Love,
Hermana Perez
In addition to Lauren's regular email to us last week she sent me a short email in which she said, “YAY! dude mom”. I quickly sent a reply email entitled, “DUDE MOM?!!!...I don't think so. I do not want to be a DUDE mom. Is dude even the "in" thing to say now a days?....

I love you always,
Mom...minus DUDE
