An Intoxicated Man Promised to Protect Us

The comments and or translations in bold, blue, italics are comments from Lauren's mom.

HEY FAMILY!
I am so, so, so happy y'all had such a great time at Crater Lake. Thank you so much for telling me about it. I WILL JUMP OFF THE CLIFF 5 TIMES WHEN WE GO AFTER I GET HOME! Oh my word mom, remember when I tried to jump off you threatened to ground me...and Oh my word, you let Blackfoot jump the cliff before I could. He is SO fired! :)

This week has been great like all of the other ones. We had a great work out this morning, always an awesome way to start the day.

Uuuuuuuummmmm yeah... we have a hispanic investigator that we teach that is in the english Elder's area. Ha, it's kind of sketch. He is accepting everything we've taught him and he is planning on getting baptized on the 24th. No se exactment que debo hacer por que aparentamente el esta enamorado conmigo. No quiero que se bautize si no esta realmente interesado en el evangelio...solamente el evangelio. (translation: I do not know exactly what to do because apparently he is in love with me. I don't want him to be baptised if he isn't really interested in the gospel...and only in the gospel.) He is very interested in learning and is very spiritual minded. He asks tons of questions at church and is already very committed to staying active. God has blessed us to be able to easily get members to attend every discussion with us y nuestro lider de districto me dijo obedecer las reglas y todo va a ester bien.... pues claro.... pero quiero que el se enfoca mas en el evangelio. Ay hombres tontos. Mama no necesitas traducir todo lo que yo escribo :) (translation: and our district leader told me to obey the rules and everything will be OK...well of course...,but I want him to focus more on the gospel. Oh, silly men. Mom you don't have to translate everything I write in spanish :)

We have another investigator Gladis that has been to church the last few weeks, but she is hard to get a hold of. She isn't answering the door when we try to visit... so that’s been an adventure. She wants to be baptized and has friends in the church... it's only a matter of time. We are excited for her.

I taught the Young Women's lesson yesterday; we got a call an hour before sacrament that the Young Women's teacher was sick and going to the hospital so I pulled something together last minute. Thank heavens for manuals!

We have had a few very strong families move into the branch which I am thrilled about! Solid members are always a great addition.

Sister Furman is a rock star; she's way funny and NEVER gets stressed. Fortunately transfers aren't for another few weeks. I can't believe we're already on week 4! She is an awesome listener and very obedient. We've been working on getting her to be more insistent como correcting me and not being scared to correct me. For instance, I really struggle getting to bed on time. I always have something to do. We've practiced and she is doing a good job of insisting that I go to bed at the same time as her.... ROCKSTAR!

One of our intoxicated brothers came up to us while we were waiting for an investigator and says, "You ladies make sure you're careful, if anyone tries to mess with you, take a picture. I live at %$^# something street apt %$. You show me their picture and I’ll make sure he never messes with anyone ever again. So yup, that's a little bit about our week, always an adventure :)

Thank you so much for all the love and the support. I’m excited to get the birthday package. I can hardly wait to open it. I love you all. Keep holding strong to the rod.

Love,
Herman Perez
