I'm Training This Transfer

The comments and or translations in bold blue italics are from Lauren's mom. I'm training this transfer. Ha, Yay! My companion is amazing and very willing to work hard. She has an awesome testimony and great motivation to learn and speak Spanish. Her name is Hermana Coles and she's from the District of Columbia. It’s been fun to talk about the contrasts in growing up in different parts of the country. Yesterday we hit the ground running. We had a busy day scheduled. We studied for awhile as soon as we came home and went off to work. There was no time to unpack. She got a great taste of missionary life and was able to put her Spanish skills to the test. We are incredibly busy in this area which is GREAT for a new missionary to be able to come to. President has asked that as trainers we spend another hour doing companion study, so in all we'll be doing 4 hours of study most days. It'll be adventure. I’m excited for the challenges it'll bring and for all that I’ll am learning right now. I already love my companion. She is a total sweetheart. I pray that I will be able to help her in all the ways the Lord would have me help her.

It was funny when my mission president called to ask me if I would be a trainer he said that as they were making assignments the assistants to the president joked about how I should be made a district leader, to which president replied, "No, we should make Sister Perez a zone leader." I told him yeah and now all we need is First Presidency’s permission for that! THANKFULLY, it would never be granted. I have NO desire to be made a zone leader.

While we were visiting Martina yesterday we asked her about the blessings she's received from reading the Book of Mormon. She looks at us and replies. MUCHOS! (translation: MANY!) She talked about how much more united her family is, her husband is living with them now, how she finally has a place of her own. They have been reading the chapters we left with them and they still want to be baptized. All we need is to have her boss give her the time off. We found out that Martina’s boss’ father passed away a week ago. She has his address and we are going to have missionaries go visit him. HOPEFULLY getting to know the missionaries will soften his heart.

We visited Adriana too and helped her clean her house for a few hours. She talked about some of their difficulties as a family and we shared part of the plan of salvation with her. We are going to go back next week and finish sharing the plan of salvation while her husband is there. I am very excited. I have a feeling she and her family will be baptized soon!

I love Albuquerque. I am SO happy to have more time here with the amazing people in this ward! I love being a missionary and I am so happy about all that I’m learning. Thank you so much for the emails ya’ll sent me.

Li’l Krys &  Bren ~
I love you! I want to start swimming with you in the mornings when I get home. If ya’ll want to go anywhere, I’d love to have some fun things to look forward to.

I LOVE YOU ALL family and friends. Do all that you can to grow close to our Father in Heaven so that you can feel an ever increasing peace that comes from righteous living.

Love
Hermana Perez
