Our Shaving Cream Lesson Lead Us To An Innactive Member

WHAT A WEEK!!!
We had exchanges this last week. I went to Santa Fe and Hermana Obrien came to our area for the day. Going back to Santa Fe were I had served was crazy awesome! I loved being back, even though we only visited one person that I used to know, I felt right at home.

I LOVE being a missionary!!! Some of my favorite times to talk to people about the gospel are when we are on the train. One person in particular that we talked to made a great impression on me. It seemed like so much of what he was talking about highlighted principles of the gospel. He spoke of the incredible growth that took place when he became a father and how much more he understood the importance of families and the love God had for us. I didn't get his information which I’m kicking myself for, but we did leave him with a card. I HOPE our short visit with him made and an impression on him.

Things have slowed down a little bit in my area, but we are working harder than ever. We have several people who have a lot of potential, but we haven't been able to catch them at home very often.

We are going to drop by Martina's today; it has been very hard to see them with her work schedule. We are hoping that she can get a few more Sundays off from work. She and her daughter seem so ready!

During our last visit to Griselda’s home her oldest son told us that he hates us. I think that’s because he’s heard that his dad hates us... that was a lovely appointment. We haven't been back since that whole incident, but we will probably drop by today.

Y’all will get a kick out of this. We're working on talking to EVERYONE we come in contact with about the gospel. One day last week I saw this group of children with some adults and got an idea. We have this shaving cream that we've used for lessons before so we ran to the car to grab it. HA! There were about six or seven children playing outside. We asked the adults that were with them if we could share something with their children. The lesson was about the good effects of kindness, when you share it, it spreads like crazy. Well... it worked...REALLY, REALLY well... a little too well. Within fifteen minutes the shaving cream was EVERYWHERE. I tried to control things by saying, "No, not on his head just on the grass. No, I don’t think your mom wants that on your shirt" etc., but it was a lost cause. Come to find out the adults had no relation to the children and seemed to feel unsettled by the situation.

When things settled down I asked the children where their parents lived. They pointed us in the direction of their apartments. We headed over to get whatever lecture was in store for us for turning their children into green foam monsters. Much to my surprise the woman who answered the door was not upset at all about her messy children and invited us in. We found out that she's a member who has been less active for quite a long time. The elders have visited her a lot and it seemed like the visit we had with her was very much needed. We felt the spirit very strong as we spoke of the healing that comes through the atonement and forgiveness. It was a great visit. We didn't get to visit the parents of another child that joined in the fun, but I asked if his mom would be okay that he was coming home so messy. He said, "Nah she won't care, I’ll just tell her it was just with some Christians."

Sister Coles and I are sad that our time together may be coming to a close. We have grown so much together and have seen so many miracles. I've been here for six months or so. We'll see if I end my mission here or I am sent to another area, calls are this Saturday!!!

Love y’all!!! Have a great week!!!
Hermana Lars
